The Pennsylvania Turnpike’s Northeastern Extension will remain at full capacity with no construction –related lane restrictions this weekend to facilitate increased traffic flow for the upcoming event at Pocono Raceway.
The lane restriction moratorium will be in place for the Lehigh River and Pohopoco Creek Bridges Project as well as along the entire length of the extension from 3 p.m. Thursday, July 30, through 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3.
Construction related lane restrictions may resume beginning Monday morning.
Construction activity between the Lehigh Tunnel and the Mahoning Valley Interchange (Exit #74) may take place behind the construction barrier during the moratorium.
Motorists may continue to encounter delays at the the Mahoning Valley Interchange ramp bridge over the Turnpike. The ramp bridge is being rebuilt a half-at-a-time and remains limited to a single lane with a temporary traffic signal channeling a single lane of traffic across the span.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time for travel on the extension and to continue to use caution when approaching the work area and along the entire length of the extension due expected increased volume.
